The Staff-Parrish Relations Committee is responsible for the human resources aspect of the church. This includes the pastor, lay staffing, district superintendent , and general church staff. Since the United Methodist Church has an appointive system, the committee must stay in tune with the needs of the congregation. The group must have a clear understanding of the church goals and missions in order to meet the needs of the church with the appropriate staffing. Their role is to serve as guides and mentors and managers of conflict for both the staff and congregation. They are also responsible for making recommendations regarding benefits, housing, and compensation of staff to the church council.
